I think I’ve spent more time on the beach this summer since I moved to south Alabama/ Northwest Florida in 2005. Of course, at least 2/3 of those beach trips were to photograph lovely families like the Rodriguez clan above. But I love it! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting awesome vacationers from all over the United States. I’ve sat in the sand and watched more sunsets this summer than I have in years (possibly ever). I’ve gotten to watch thunderheads roll in over the Gulf of Mexico, watched dolphins splash in the warm water, and marveled at half a dozen rainbows. When I say I love my job, I mean it. 100%!
You know what you don’t see a lot of nowadays? Black and white beach photography. I’m bringing that back. You heard it here first! Just wait and see!
This year, my photography has moved to a more laid back, lifestyle direction. I still take “posed” family portraits but I’m more interested in showing your family dynamic and relationships.
I also try to get your kiddos to play. We need to capture pictures of our children being who they are – playing in the sand, splashing in the water, hunting for the perfect seashell. That gorgeous portrait of your little girl sitting in the sand smiling at the camera may be the canvas that you hang over your mantle. But in twenty years, the picture of her hunting seashells in that beautiful dress with her hair blowing in the wind will take you right back to the summer of 2016 and your family vacation in Orange Beach, AL.
And if I can get mom and dad to play too – MAGIC!!
Your kids are going to think you’re the coolest because “mom let us play in the water with our clothes on.” And hopefully, I’ll get more messages like the one from last week’s client telling me, “Thanks for such a relaxing yet successful session!”
