A Rainbow baby is a child born after a miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal death, or infant loss. Did you know that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in a loss? Not 1 in 4 women - 1 in 4 pregnancies. Since most women become pregnant more than once in their lives, that drastically increases the chances that she'll suffer a loss. That means that this loss affects a lot more than just 1 in 4 women! ![]() In October 1988, President Ronald Reagan Proclaimed October as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. “When a child loses his parent, they are called an orphan. When a spouse loses her or his partner, they are called a widow or widower. When parents lose their child, there isn’t a word to describe them. This month recognizes the loss so many parents experience across the United States and around the world. It is also meant to inform and provide resources for parents who have lost children due to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, stillbirths, birth defects, SIDS, and other causes.”
Each of these amazing women below has experienced the loss of a pregnancy (or pregnancies). Some of them are pregnant with their rainbow baby. Some of them are holding their rainbow baby. Some of them are both. Their stories matter. Your story matters. These amazing mamas were strangers when they arrived for our photography session that evening in Perdido Key, FL. Each of the pregnant mamas are due within a month of each other, and by the end of our sunset session, they were all friends. In fact, they're still in touch with on another on their journey! Have you or someone you know suffered a loss? Whether you realize it or not, the answer is yes. Here's a link to a great website with information on how you can support a friend or family member who's going through or has gone through a loss. https://starlegacyfoundation.org/how-family-and-friends-can-help/ A rainbow is a promise of sunshine after rain, of calm after storms, of joy after sadness, of peace after pain, and of love after loss. Baby Plans and Birth Photography are my two favorite things to photograph. With Birth Photography I get to share a tiny part of the most important day of someone's life. And with Baby Plans I get to follow my clients from mom's Maternity Photography session, to baby's Premium Newborn Photography session, through a couple of milestone sessions, and wrap up the year documenting a Cake Smash and 12-month photography session! Ben's Watch Me Grow Baby Plan started when his mommy's Maternity Session at 26 weeks and continued with his Premium Newborn Portrait session about 3 months later. I photographed their Maternity session one late December evening on the dock in their neighborhood with a beautiful Pensacola sunset behind them. Ben's Newborn session took place in their home. I love being able to photograph in my client's homes. Everyone is more comfortable as no one has to pack up a 10-day-old baby and travel! Plus, I'm able to take pictures in the rooms they'll soon be hanging! Ben's 4-month Milestone Photography session took place on the little bay-side beach in their lovely neighborhood. We were pushing bedtime that July evening and when he just couldn't hang anymore, I kept shooting and these are some of my favorite photographs out of all of their sessions! Mom and dad requested Johnson's Beach (a part of the National Seashore) for Ben's 7-month Milestone Portrait session. Since this session took place in October, mom provided some super cute pumpkins for a few of the pictures. We wrapped up Ben's first year where it all began - on the neighborhood bay-side beach. Finally, we headed back inside for Ben's Mickey Mouse themed Cake Smash! As far as I'm concerned, EVERY cake smash session should wrap up with a couple of photographs of baby in a tub getting cleaned up! And these clients have the most gorgeous bathtub I've ever seen! This is like bathtub goals for me. :) If you're expecting, call me and let's pick the best Watch Me Grow Baby Plan for you! I wanted a new program that really reflects what my clients are looking for and would appreciate. Let's be honest, if the referral credit isn't worth it, you're not going to remember to make sure your friend lets me know YOU sent them my way. The two most important things I want the updated referral program to do are 1. benefit clients no matter what type of session they booked including birth photography and Watch Me Grow Baby Plans 2. benefit my local Pensacola, Orange Beach, etc clients as well as my awesome vacation booking clients I think this system will benefit everyone! So, without further ado, my new and improved Client Referral Program:
3 credits = 1 free 30 minute Mini Session with your choice of 5 digital images and print release (session must take place in Perdido Key or Southwest Pensacola) 5 credits = 1 free full Family, Newborn, or Maternity session of your choice (all normal session perks included) The fine print: *Your referral must be a new client of Finding Beauty in the Ordinary Photography and they must let me know that YOU referred them. **Credits can accumulate over multiple years. ***You can choose to turn in your 5 credits into a gift card that you can give to someone. (Not available for 3 credit mini sessions.) Everyday I hear parents (first time parents especially) wanting to make sure they're documenting baby's first year - capturing those precious milestones. And that's exactly what my "Watch Me Grow" baby plans were created to do! In order to provide Pensacola area parents affordable options to have baby's first year professional photographed, I've created 3 separate baby plans ranging from mommy's Maternity Portrait session through baby's 1 year/ cake smash pictures. Oh, and did I mention that these sessions take place in your home or location of your choosing? No packing up baby and gear! I bring everything to you! Watch Me Grow - Ultimate - Bump to Cake Includes 6 sessions covering baby's 1st year plus $100 print credit for $1250 ($1500 value)
Watch Me Grow - Milestones - Pick 4 Includes your choice of 4 sessions during baby's 1st year plus $50 print credit for $900 ($1075 value)
Watch Me Grow - Bump to Baby Includes the following 2 sessions plus $50 print credit for $500 ($650 value)
Pensacola area baby plans can be booked as early as you’d like. All that’s required is a signed contract and paid retainer fee (30% of the package price). Your due date goes on my calendar and that’s it! Maternity sessions are scheduled when mom is between 26 and 34 weeks (depending on how much you’re showing), and Milestone sessions (3, 6, and 9 months) are scheduled as we go along. I also offer payment plans to help make capturing these fleeing moments of baby’s first year as do-able as possible. No one should miss out on having professional photography! As a little added bonus, all Gulf Coast clients who book one of my "Watch Me Grow" baby plans before March 1st will receive 3 custom 3x3 mini accordion albums as a special gift!
Though a bit of a drive, Carpenter's Park in Milton, FL is one of my favorite family portrait session locations. It has a little of everything I need for a great Northwest Florida photo shoot - water, a cute little bridge, pier, open grassy areas, and lots of natural shade. The Montserrat family contacted me about taking their first pictures as a family of 3 and I was happy to oblige. Since dad is currently stationed at Whiting Field and they were looking for something outdoors and nearby, Carpenter's Park near downtown Milton was the perfect choice. As a rule, travel within 25 miles of zip code 32506 is included in the session fee for all of my photography shoots. But, I'm more than happy to travel anywhere your heart desires for a nominal travel fee.
Taking advantage of my love of travel allows us to really pick the PERFECT location for your family portrait session, maternity session, or high school senior portrait session! Since 1 year/ Cake Smash sessions are for up to 1 hour of coverage, often times we start with a few family portraits, then move on to individuals of the birthday boy or girl, and end with the cake smash portion. This allows the parents to have a lot of variety of pictures. Just like Newborn sessions, I bring the entire shoot to the client's home or location of their choosing within south Alabama and Northwest Florida.
Mason's parents decided to have his 1 year portraits taken at a nearby park on Escambia Bay. We started with some super cute 1 year pictures by the water and then he had a wardrobe change for his cake smash. A new year (like a new baby) signals a new beginning – a fresh start – a dream of new things to come. And that’s appropriate for us. Because for 2017 I’m thrilled to announce our new Watch Me Grow – Baby Plans. Our Baby Plans will provide Gulf Coast and Pensacola area mothers-to-be 3 different Baby Plan options – covering mommy’s Maternity Portrait session through baby’s 12-month portraits and Cake Smash session. Of course, I’ll still offer individual Maternity, Newborn, and Milestone portrait sessions – but by booking a Watch Me Grow – Baby Plan package, you will receive up to $450 in savings off the A La Carte session pricing! Do I have your attention yet? Good! Here’s the details about the Watch Me Grow Plans for baby’s first year. ![]() Watch Me Grow – Ultimate – From Bump to Cake This Package includes the following 6 Sessions from pregnancy through baby’s 1st year as well as a $100 print credit for only $1150 (a value of $1600) Maternity Portraits – 1 hour

It’s been a while since I’ve taken the time to show off some the awesome photography products that we carry. Plus, since I’ve added a few more goodies, what better way to introduce them than to show them off! Since it is the Christmas season, I am going to start off with these super cute, and affordable, custom Christmas ornaments. On the left is a bamboo ornament that comes in your choice of 13 sizes & shapes (the one show is 4″x2.5″). They’re ~1/4″ thick and show the beautiful, natural grain of the bamboo through the image. On the right is a sweet metal ornament that can be ordered in the design shown or a snowflake. These ornaments not only look lovely on your own tree, they make a fantastic gift for grandparents! Next up is an item I’ve been proudly using for 2 months now: a custom cell phone case. What a great way to show off your babies – without having to even unlock your phone screen. Cases are black rubber grip with interchangeable photo inserts. These aren’t sold as “protective cases” like Otterbox, Lifeproof, etc – BUT, my toddler has dropped and thrown my phone multiple times on quite a few different surfaces, and so far, no damage has occurred to my Samsung S6. Cases are available for the Samsung Galaxy S6, iPad Mini, and iPhones 4, 5, 6, & 6 Plus. The base order includes 1 case and 1 insert – additional inserts can be added to your order or ordered at a later date. The gorgeous picture above is my 2nd favorite new product: the 3″x3″ accordion mini album. This beautiful, sturdy mini album comes with your choice of up to 10 customizable panels and your choice of cover: fabric, leathers, suede, or (my personal fave) custom photo. Accordion Mini albums come in sets of 3 boxed up in a little manilla colored box – PERFECT for grandparent gifts (can you not just picture grandma whipping this out of her purse to show off to everyone) or as a display in mom or dad’s office! Next up, you can NEVER go wrong with a custom, 1 1/2″ gallery wrap canvas! It’s classic, it’s sturdy, and you don’t even need a frame. Each gallery wrap canvas is finished with saw-tooth hangers and corner bumpers. I’ll wrap up with something many of us are knee deep in this time of year – Christmas cards. I am proud to offer, high quality, customized Press-Printed & Foil Pressed greeting cards in a variety of sizes. Custom designed cards are perfect for new baby announcements, Birthday invitations, Graduation announcements, Christmas cards, etc.
So, now you’ve seen the beautiful, high quality, and affordable products we carry for our clients. But, just because you don’t see it here doesn’t mean we can’t get it. So, if there’s ever something special that you have in mind, just ask! ![]() I don’t think I know a single person who doesn’t have an opinion on breastfeeding. It’s a controversial subject, a potential source of stress for mothers and mothers-to-be, and one of many beautiful ways to bond with and care for your baby. Let me say that again – one of MANY beautiful ways to bond with and care for your baby. I breastfed my son from day-one until he weaned himself at 10 1/2 months old. He was also supplemented with formula from day one as I was never able to keep up with his demand. I support any woman who breastfeeds her baby – it’s freaking HARD! I wanted to quit SO many times over the first 6 weeks of my son’s life. And oh man, photographing newborns while you, yourself, are a breastfeeding momma … Can you say overactive letdown? LOL. For those who don’t make it that long, that’s ok! For those mommas who decide to forego or just aren’t able to breastfeed, that’s fine too! As long as your baby is nourished and cared for – you’re an amazing mom in MY book! A couple of weeks ago, I had the distinct pleasure to be able to take part in a Breastfeeding Group Shoot with a Florida Panhandle photography group. These mommas from Pensacola, Navarre, and Destin, FL were not only beautiful and amazing, they’re fellow local photographers who wanted their breastfeeding journey documented and agreed to model! I loved this shoot at Naval Live Oaks on the National Seashore in Gulf Breeze, FL.
![]() When Corinne’s mommy first contacted me months before her birthday inquiring whether or not I photograph parties in the Pensacola, FL area, I told her no. Photographing parties really isn’t my “thing.” I’m more of a set up the kiddo with fun things to interact with for portraits than a wander the party capturing family moments kinda gal. But, when she messaged me a couple weeks before the party in a bit of a panic because the photographer she’d lined up had cancelled, I, of course, jumped in to help! And, I’m so glad I did, because, how adorable is this kiddo and how sweet is this family? The party was full of adorable details all stemming from the adage, "it's not a party if there aren't balloons." And this little miss LOVED not only the attention, but the cake too! A what's a party without an impromptu family portrait? ![]() |
