Styling Assistance for your Pensacola Family Photography Session

One of the services included in my sessions is "Styling Assistance."

So what does that mean?

It means I'm ready and willing to help you create a fun, beautiful, and cohesive set of outfits for your Pensacola family photography session. As your Pensacola family photographer, styling assistance can be as simple as sending you mood or color boards from Pinterest or as in-depth as filling a shopping cart with outfits for your family (and anything in between)! I've had clients who didn't know where to even start. I've gone to clients' homes and raided their closets to show that we could build something with what they already owned. And I've evaluated mirror selfies sent throughout a shopping trip.

It doesn't matter what your price point is. I've put together sessions using nothing but pieces my clients already owned, and I've gone on a shopping spree for clients. The point is that I'm here to help ease your burden.

Above are two sets of outfits I've curated at Old Navy that would be perfect for a Pensacola Beach family photography session or a cuddly, candid family photo shoot in a Pensacola, Florida park or grassy field. Each piece is available at OldNavy.com in a wide range of sizes for families of any number from infant to adult.

The blue, green, and khaki-themed set on the left would cost ~$215, and the cream, pink, and blue-themed outfits on the right, would cost ~$236. Something else that's fun (and free) is to add chunky sweaters, denim jackets, lace wraps, etc that you already own to make the vibe your own while adding texture and variety to your session. Obviously, adjustments would need to be made based on the age of your family members as well as their clothing style and preferences. But that's easy to do!

As a general rule, I choose Mom's outfit first and base everyone else's outfits off of her. For Family 1, you can see that I used the blues and greens in mom's dress to pick everyone else's outfits. For Family 2, I decided to put mom in a neutral colored dress that had beautiful textural details and instead based the family's outfits off the pink/peach teen dress.

These three dresses are very on-trend for teen girls to young women. You'll see the green dress at any high school. The middle, striped, linen dress would work with either family's outfits, and the pink/peach dress adds visual interest to the second family.

For children and infants, less is usually more and comfort will always be key! You want clothes that fit well, move with your child, and let them show off their personality.

For the boys, I chose simple, cotton button-down shirts found and paired them with twill, pull-on shorts that look structured while still allowing comfort and movement. While girls are typically put in a sundress, I thought this chambray romper was also super cute and still feminine (plus you're not worried about panties showing). That leaves us with the baby. Babies are going to look absolutely adorable in anything, so why not put them in something like a neutral romper, onesie, or simple sundress? This way you're not constantly fixing straps or lace or making sure a diaper is hidden.

Usually I dress dad last (unless he's super picky about what he will and will not wear). Dad's outfit is a great way to be the final key that locks everyone in together. In Family 1, Dad's button-down shirt and light khaki pants pull from mom's dress, as well as the kids' outfits. In Family 2, I used Dad's heavy striped shirt to play a stronger role in the color scheme and paired it with a darker pair of chinos to not draw attention away from Mom's dress.

What do you think? Would your family wear something like this? Do you like the idea of being able to reach out to your photographer for help planning everyone's outfits for your Pensacola Family Photography session?
